Thesis cover design

Your Ph.D. thesis is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication to your research. Your final work therefore deserves a cover that makes you equally eager to share with the world. As a PhD-student myself, I take great joy in helping other researchers visually represent themselves and their work, in the most authentic way possible.

I have a distinctive, painterly style, and I frequently use both traditional and digital mediums for a unique outcome. Have a look at my portfolio, and get in touch if you’re interested and for any questions.

I offer:

I do not provide (page) layout design, but we can always discuss additional illustrated content.

Cost

Pricing depends on: level of detail, complexity, medium used, how far developed your idea is upon starting, and many other factors we can discuss.
Prices vary between 250 EU (simple design, with minor hand-drawn elements) and 750 EU (elaborate, detailed, fully hand-painted). There are many possibilities in between.

Intake

We’ll get to know each other in person, by e-mail or on the phone. You are encouraged to share your thesis, preferences, and any preconceived ideas with me. Among other things, we’ll discuss color scheme, mood, medium, text, and style.

Concept phase

After our meeting, I’ll start researching and sketching, and get back to you with a couple of ideas. Once we’ve settled on the concept, I can start working on the design.

Design phase I

I’ll start working on the cover. I’ll process any feedback you have at the end of this phase, and continue to the next phase.

Design phase II

At this point, all required printer details should be available. I’ll finetune and finish the cover, and work on the bookmark, chapter pages and anything else discussed previously.

Ready to print

Upon your approval, I’ll send you all the files, formatted according to your printer’s specifications.
